Stompin’ Through The Creek — 2019 Edition
We’ll be stomping through local waterways and seeing what we can find!
We’re going to start at 8:30 AM by heading into Duffins Creek. This is our traditional starting point, and is located on the 5th Concession in Pickering. If you are coming north on either Westney or Greenwood, turn left (west) onto 5th Concession. The parking lot is on the north side just after the bridge. (43.9089 Latitude, -79.0693 Longitute). This is on the borders of Greenwood’s Conservation Area.
After some time there, we’ll be heading over to Pringle Creek. We will enter the creek around 11:00 AM. Meet at 2 Schilling Court, Whitby and park on Bradley.
You by no means have to do both, but it is interesting to compare the two creeks to one another...
Be sure to bring nets, aqua socks (or other footwear suitable for going in the creek), buckets if you plan on bringing anything home, hats and sunscreen.
If you plan on bringing things home, be sure to have either your conservation or fishing license, and have it on hand.
In years past we’ve seen sticklebacks, darters (at least three species), a few species of crayfish, stone rollers, sunfish, trout fingerlings, frogs, tadpoles, lots of insects and even some interesting aquatic plants... After we finish, we’ll stop for some drinks and snacks. Pool available if you want to cool off.
This event is only open to paid-up DRAS members, or paid-up members of any other CAOAC aquarium club or society.
