• BAP Guidelines

    For those of you that enjoy the breeding and raising of tropical fish, this program is designed to recognize your efforts. Everything from guppies to discus is eligible. The harder a fish is to spawn, the more points earned. Additional points are given upon submission of a written report which may be published in our monthly bulletin, 'tank talk'. Gold seals are affixed to a framed certificate at various levels of accomplishment.

    10.    		 The Breeders Award Program Committee shall consist of: the Breeders Award Chairman, the Bulletin Editor, members holding a CAOAC Intermediate Award or higher, members achieving Senior Award level if they wish.

    Each species or classification can be awarded points for first breeding only.

    All fish must be distinct species; ie. colour and locality variations and albinos are considered the same species.

    Members must contact the Breeders Award Chairman, giving the date of spawning, common and proper name of fish, and the chairman or person designated by the chairman must view the fish in the early stages of development and at a second time about two months later.

    Fish must be spawned and young raised to a suitable size and number before points will be awarded. If considering applying for a CAOAC Breeders Award, the applicant should attempt to raise a quantity of fry that approaches production capability of the species in question.

    A challenge to point value of a given fish, or fish not listed in the schedule, must be submitted in writing to the Breeders Award Chairman for consideration by the committee.

    Decisions of the committee are final and will be based on acceptable literature.

    Records must be kept on the breeding, spawning and rearing of the fish and an additional 5 points will be awarded on receipt of a written report of the breeding and rearing acceptable to the Editor for publication in the DRAS bulletin.

    Anyone joining DRAS will be allowed to transfer points from another club having acceptable rules, after scrutinizing by the Breeders Award Committee.

    The Committee, at its discretion, may award points for special line breeding or colour specialization.

    Awards
    Points will be awarded only once, according to the attached schedule, to an individual, group or family. Awards will be presented as follows based on the accumulation of points:

    5.    		 Novice Award - 50 points from any class.

    Junior Award - 100 points; at least 30 points to be from class B, C or D.

    Intermediate Award - 250 points; 100 points from Junior Award and at least 45 points from class C or D.

    Senior Award - 400 points; 250 from Intermediate Award and 150 from any class.

    Advanced Award - 500 points; 400 from Senior Award and an additional 100 points. Must include at least 1 (one) species from class D.


    Special award appliques will be added to the Advanced Award for each subsequent 200 points earned.
